OF GRANT OF LAND FROM THE CATAWBA INDIANS TO
NEELY'S CREEK CHURCH South Carolina This Indenture made in the year of our Lord one thousand York District. hundred and twenty between the Catawba Indians of the one part, and John Campbell as agent in trust for Neely's Creek congregation of the other part--Witnesseth: that the said Catawba Indians in consideration of the yearly rent herein after reserved on the part and behalf of the said John Campbell as agent aforesaid and his successors on office as aforesaid to be paid, have granted, bargained and released and by these presents do grant, bargain and release unto the said John Campbell as agent aforesaid for the proper use of the said Neely's Creek congregation, all that lot or tract of land containing twelve acres situate in said State and district on the waters of Neely's Creek as represented by the plat thereof hereunto annexed and reference being had thereunto will more fully appear at large together with all apurtenances to said premises belonging or in any wise incident or appertaining, to have and to hold all and singular said premises unto the said John Campbell as agent aforesaid and his successors in office for the proper use of said congregation from this present date above written, for and during the full term of ninety-nine years to be completed and ended he or they therefore yielding and paying yearly during the term the sum of TWO CENTS A YEAR if the same shall be lawfully demanded and the said John Campbell as agent for congregation shall pay the yearly rent and at the end of term unto the Catawba Indians the said John Campbell for the congregation shall quietly leave and yield up said lot or tract of land and premises. And the Catawba Indians for themselves and their successors do covenant and engage to and with the said John Campbell that the Neely's Creek congregation shall and may peaceably and quietly by and under the yearly rent aforesaid have, hold, occupy and possess the premises for and during the term hereby granted free from any hindrance or interruption from the said Catawba Indians. In witness whereof all the head men and acting chiefs of the Catawba Nation and I, John Campbell, agent for Neely's Creek congregation have set our hands and seal this date above written.
